In April I wrote about Splice’s support of local artists, which has been now been recognised across the borough with our participation in the 2015 Shoreditch Design Triangle. A street-by-street event that brings together artists, designers and independent businesses to celebrate the creativity and collaboration that surrounds us, the Shoreditch Design Triangle runs in line with the London Design Festival from the 19th to the 27th of September. There is a Shoreditch Design Triangle map which circulates throughout London (it is also distributed from the main hub in the V&A) and Splice will have two spots this year so keep an eye out!
Our facility on the corner of Great Eastern Street and Singer Street, aka the #walaladreamcometruebuilding, will host a pop-up shop for the week featuring exclusive prints, gifts and books from all of our previous artist in residence including Crispin Finn, Hoxton Mini Press, Jess Wilson and of course, Camille Walala. I would love everyone’s support so please come on down and check it out! If you can’t make it during the day there will be a special late night opening on Tuesday 22nd September.
But as well as the art, we want a chance to show a glimpse behind the scenes of our busy post production house and to celebrate the collaboration that happens in our industry. We are hosting an open evening of workshops, demonstrations and talks also on Tuesday 22nd September at our flagship facility in Perseverance Works (Unit 21a).
There will be a series of masterclasses in sound, online editing and colour grading from our team of in-house creatives, and we have also handpicked several local companies to come and talk about what they do – these include Perseverance Works’ very own Fearlessly Frank and Telegraph Hill, and local creative motion agency Swhype. Procam, the broadcast & cine equipment hire company, will also be joining us with an exclusive demo of the latest kit following on from their showcase at IBC in our foyer.
Our guests will circulate in small groups around our facility, visiting each workshop and talk before convening in our gorgeous courtyard for a drink provided by amazing locals Redchurch Brewery. Fingers crossed it doesn’t rain!
We really want this to be a celebration of the creativity and innovation we have on our doorstep in Shoreditch. If you would like to come along or want some more information please get in touch with me (kate@splicepost.com). I hope to see you all at the pop up shop!
